Audition guide

TIPS TO PREPARE FOR YOUR LIVE AUDITION:

PRACTICE, PREPARE, POLISH
Practice your audition material, prepare your repertoire, but also polish up on your musical chops by practicing chord changes, inversions, rudiments and scales.

MOCK-AUDITION
Get rid of any performance anxiety by becoming comfortable performing for other people. Put on a mini performance for friends or family. Alternatively, record yourself and listen back to fix any sloppiness. This will help you build on finesse and precision.

STAY HEALTHY
Rest and ensure that you sleep well leading up to the audition so that you are physically, mentally and emotionally alert. Eating healthily will also ensure that your energy and stamina levels are optimal

ARRIVE AHEAD OF TIME
Give yourself a healthy amount of time before the audition to travel to the location, sign in, and then set up your instrument and get ‘in the zone’

HAVE FUN!
Dress to impress, but ensure that you’re comfortable.
Relax and project confidence even if you make a
mistake. Show off your personality!
